Details

Chinook Helicopter with MLRS and DROPS re-supply during Gulf War I.

The first combat use of the MLRS (long range armoured, self propelled multiple rocket launcher) occurred in the 1991 Gulf War. The U.S. deployed over 230 MLRS systems during Operation Desert Storm, and the UK an additional 16. Six Gunner regiments deployed, including No.39 Heavy Regiment RA with the MLRS, supported by RLC DROPS resupply and rearming vehicles.

The detailed painting depicts a forward battle area scene with a MLRS resupply in progress; a Chinook helicopter transporting a water storage tank, and various detritus of combat litter that will be familiar to any gunner involved in the action of Desert Storm.

The sold out primary edition featured a unique collection of very rare signatures of Gulf War Commanders:  General Sir Peter de la Billiere KCB KBE DSO MC, Major General Ian Durie CBE, General Sir Rupert Smith DSO & Bar OBE QGM, Lieutenant Colonel John Wallace MBE.  In addition, a few copies were signed by:Major General The Duke Of Westminster KG OBE TD DL, General Sir Richard Dannatt GCB CBE MC, General Sir Michael Walker GCB CMG CBE ADC Gen. These multi-signed are sold out, but copies may occasionally be found on the secondary market.
